Will I make it to enter The Rookies 2024? Maybe, maybe not, but I'll still won't quit.

Work In Progress / 26 May 2024

So I'm doubtful I'll finish to be able to enter into  The Rookies again this year for various reasons. But I'm trying not to let that stop me from accomplishing something. The stretch goal is June 17th for the texturing of this dude. I'll add the warrior after. I'm open to thoughts, comments, suggestions, what you like, what pitfalls to be wary of, etc. Thanks for your feedback and support. *it's amazing what some lighting can do*If you are wondering where this huggable dragon came from, IMAGE 1 shows the model/textures for 2020. Mulan 2020, I’ll Make A Man Out Of You (Music Video), Peyton Parrish (Rock Cover) is OUT

General / 30 March 2022

The song I’ll Make A Man Out Of You, first came to my attention in the original Disney Mulan animation. I enjoyed the song greatly and the film as well. I believe it was one of my first experiences with a female character being a warrior.

In 2020, my life took a turn, and my ability to create art was impaired due to a car accident. But the song and the 2020 Mulan movie helped inspire me. As a result, I recovered and became ambidextrous. This moment in life cemented the connection of Mulan’s struggle in becoming her true self and finding that core strength and reasoning to be strong.

Jump to 2021, I stumbled upon an amazing artist Peyton Parrish on YouTube and his rendition of the iconic song and I instantly fell in love with it. I believe he managed to capture the core of the song and amplify its impact in my mind.

In a YouTube live Peyton Parrish had, I asked if he was okay with me making a music video synced to his song. He said: “Go for it, dude.”

If you like the song, please support Peyton Parrish, and purchase his song. His talent is remarkable.

If you’d like a music video of your own reach out and let’s discuss.

Time Skipped, advice & resources to overcome ruts

General / 09 October 2021

Something I have found in my career in art is that there was a lot I didn’t know. I made countless mistakes some that if I just took an extra moment and read that article or watched that video, etc. I could have learned from someone else and also time skipped.

These are just some resources/advice that can maybe help you (they helped me).

The job search

Work In Progress / 05 October 2021

So it has been quite some time since I have to do any posting/ documentation of what I have been up to. As the title of this post says I have embarked on the job search again. Though I quickly realized that I need to start creating new works and be more active in my communities so that people know who I am and what I have to offer. To start in making things easier I have created an https://linktr.ee/MalachiMaynard to help organize all my work under one link, while still keeping everything separate at the same time too.

In summary, I am a visual communicator, who focuses on typography, layout design, 3D character, and Hardsurface modeling. I teach youth 3D printing and graphic design, drawing, character design, and more.

I'm currently looking for freelance work or the opportunity to join a team and contribute my vast skills, and grow as an artist.

(Above) I have started exploring a new armor design from my original concept from the main character from my novel.(Above) Here is a work in progress of some progress of the facial anatomy I've been working on for my new model to come.(Above) are some typography works that if interested more can be seen on my Behance page.

(Above) I have started building my brand called Scyth3 Designs.
(Above) is a new mixed-media digital painting I have done bridging some old traditional work into a more digital medium. This work is available for purchase as prints and more on my Redbubble site in the link tree link above.

Another step in development.

Mind to shelf to realization

General / 18 May 2019

So I just finished two more design projects. One has been on the shelf for years, a design that I created through the inspiration of my appreciation of Avril Lavigne's hard work of making amazing art (music). I've also finished a design inspired by the legendary brand Nike(c) whose tag line has helped me and countless others every day.

Start to a new journey ahead

Work In Progress / 13 May 2019

As one journey ends in a designer’s path, one must find the strength to continue on. This post is for all those at this juncture in life professionally and personally. I want to share with you some words of wisdom and encouragement that you may have already heard before. But every time I myself have heard and seen these words I view them in a new way.

  1. Remain result orientated and be proactive. If no one has done it before you then be the pioneer.
  2. Everything is impossible to those that don’t try.

Live, design experiences, and inspire those in every room you enter.

Design Hacks:

  1. Be HONEST with yourself and your designs, don’t try to be something you aren’t.
  2. Be THOROUGH, give it your all and more. Limits are self placed.
  4. START.

    WIP of next Digital Painting.
